    Brief Description : Aminoacyl-tRNA syntehtases play a key role in the process of protein biosynthesis in all organisms. They are responsible for the fidelity of translation process by the precise recognition and correct aminoacylation of cognate tRNA molecules. Recent developments in genomics are reponsible for very fast accumulation of AARS sequence data. The AARSDB provides an information on the primary stuctures of these key enzymes taht can be used for comparative analyses or phylogenetic studies. The current update of the database contains over 2000 amino acid sequences of cytoplasmic and organellar aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases available as single entries as well groups of sequences for synthetases with the same specificity. The database can be accessed using the WWW at http: / / biobases.ibch.poznan.pl / aars / .
